Radioactive Waste Management

The members of the research group are involved in a wide variety of projects with applications to nuclear waste management. Research areas include: Design and evaluation of nuclear waste forms for high-level waste; corrosion of borosilicate glass and spent nuclear fuel; radiation effects in glass and crystalline ceramic waste forms; the crystal-chemistry and geochemistry of actinides; the use of natural analogues; the natural reactors in Oklo, Gabon; and the evaluation of performance and risk assessment methodologies.
